When choosing a new defibrillator, or looking for a replacement, you may find there are different defibrillator types. Knowing what you’re looking for and are confident that you’ve made the correct choice is important, which is why we’ll cover the baseline defibrillator types within this guide.
Defibrillator types
When browsing the defibrillator types, you may notice that there are automatic and semi-automatic devices. There are differences between the two which need to be clarified ahead of purchase.
Automatic
An automatic defibrillator takes the pressure off the user when administering the shock to a person experiencing cardiac arrest. This specific defibrillator type automatically delivers the shock without input from the user. It is typically sourced when you are unsure of how possible users will react to performing a shock. These are suited to more public areas in most cases where there could be more people without training or experience.
Semi-automatic
A semi-automatic defibrillator is very similar to an automatic defibrillator, however, they require slightly more input from the user performing the shock. This device allows for more input and control over the situation. As long as no other people are touching the patient, the shock process will go smoothly and without interference.
Defibrillator training
As there are different defibrillator types, we do encourage training which is something we can help with. The training process, which we offer, is carried out by training experts with full accreditation. The training sessions are available for groups, to ensure the maximum amount of information is processed by the highest number of people.
Types of pads
As well as there being different defibrillator types, there are also a number of different variations of pads. The size of the defibrillator pad is important as that is the part of the device which determines the amount of shock which is delivered to the patient. This is largely down to the person who is receiving the shock:
- Paediatric
- Adult
Both types of pads are offered by us, here at Defib Sales & Training. Knowing the pads are correct for your defibrillator is essential. To find this information, check the manufacturer user manual.
Defibrillator accessories
To go along with the defibrillator types, there are also accessories which support their use.
- Batteries
- Replacement pads
- Training Manikins
- Cabinets
- Signage
- Defibrillator / CPR Preparation Kit
- Emergency Bleed Control Kit
